objectives Print

Objectives refer to where the College would like its graduates to be about three to five      years after graduation. Objectives are (macro) results and are related to the College as a whole, while goals are (micro) results and are related to the academic departments. Outcomes refer to its expectations for graduates immediately upon graduation. Outcomes must be precise, i.e., clear, understandable and measurable.

At the education level, the objectives of OCMT can be outlined as being to produce graduates characterized by the following:

I.Breadth and depth in the sciences they study sufficient for intellectual growth in their disciplines.

II.Knowledge and skills sufficient to be employable and successful in a variety of professional positions.

III. Ability to work collaboratively and in team environments.

IV.An awareness and understanding of social and ethical issues in the fields of their disciplines.

V.Competency in oral and written communication skills.

VI.Obtaining backgrounds in the sciences they studied that qualify them for entry into a variety of graduate programs.

To illustrate how outcomes are derived from objectives, the following objective and outcomes are derived from the first College objective (Breadth and depth in the sciences they study sufficient for intellectual growth in their disciplines) for the program of Computer Sciences.

Objective: To produce graduates with breadth and depth in computer science sufficient

for intellectual growth in the computing discipline.

  Outcomes:

           I. Students will be familiar with the basic topics in theory and foundations, programming concepts, data structures, algorithm design and analysis, computer architecture, and software development techniques.

II. Students will know how to apply mathematics in the study of computer science.

As a financial investment in the field of higher education, the objective of OCMT is to achieve a profit better than investment in banks, i.e. achieving around (15%-20%) net profit after providing higher education opportunities for a number of needy students.

To accomplish its education and financial objectives, OCMT looks forward to provide interaction amongst students, with the local community, and at the national, regional and international levels. OCMT strives to strengthen its academic programs and academic relations with similar organizations. It is academically affiliated to Yarmouk University, which is actually a partner in the capital of the College. The commitment of OCMT in this direction is evidenced by setting up an office for quality management, and a development and academic training centre within the college.
