In conjunction with the World Mental Health Day October 10th of each year, and due to the increasing global interest in and awareness of mental health issues, as statistics from the World Health Organization indicate an increase in the number of people suffering from mental disorders around the world. Therefore, it was important to celebrate this day to educate college students about the importance of properly dealing with the psychological and social challenges they face and to benefit from the services provided by the Psychological and Social Counseling Office in the Student Affairs Department.
Where Oman College of Management and Technology, represented by the Office of Psychological and Social Guidance, organized a mental health awareness event under the name of "breathing" on October 10th, 2022, under the auspices of Prof. Dr. Walid Hmedat, Dean of the College.
The event included a mental health exhibition, which included a set of pillars, namely:
• Nutrition and Mental Health Corner
• The corner of the Islamic religion and mental health
• Technology and Mental Health Corner
• Psychological Games Corner
• Corner of “You are fine campaign”
• Al Qimma Medical Care Complex Corner
• The corner of emotional emptying in art
A discussion session was also held for students entitled "Mental Health of the University Student", presented by Dr. Aziz Al-Noamani from Al Qimma Medical Care Complex.
The event received great interaction from the students, as well as the academic and administrative staff.
