Under the generous patronage and great support of His Highness Sayyid Mohammad bin Salem AL Said, the Oman College of Management and Technology organized its annual international conference in the field of banking, finance, and money for the second year in a row at the college’s headquarters in Halban. Where the conference was opened within a solemn ceremony organized by the college on the morning of Monday, May 23, 2023, in the presence of Mr. Hussein AL Saleh, Chairman of the Board of Directors of the College, and in the presence of the Dean of the College and the participants in the conference, in addition to members of the academic and administrative staff. The opening ceremony included a speech by the acting dean of the college, Dr. Hazem Migdady, in which he addressed the most prominent achievements of the college, and its efforts to develop, consolidate and encourage scientific research. Rather, the mechanisms of employing it and transferring it to the reality inside and outside the Sultanate. In his speech, he also touched on plans to develop this international conference in its next edition, which will be during the next year, and how to expand participation and maximize outputs. He concluded his speech by thanking His Highness, the sponsor of the ceremony, and the Chairman of the Board of Directors of the College for their presence and support for this kind of events and activities.
The conference also hosted a group of keynote speakers from within the Sultanate, who are distinguished by a research record and a great social impact, and they are: Ms. Laila Al-Hadhrami, Mr. Nabil Al-Raisi, Mr. Badar Al-Hashmi, and Mr. Ahmed Al-Hadi. Where the Ms. Laila bint Abdullah Al-Hadhrami spoke about the technology of Metaverse, and stressed the need to accept and deal with it. She also urged students, academics, and the college to employ this type of technology as soon as possible, so that the college would be at the forefront of educational institutions that move in this direction. For his part, Mr. Nabil Al-Raisi talked about the digital transformation in the banking sector, in addition to the use of artificial intelligence technologies and their role in saving time and effort and enhancing the investment process and the cumulative benefit of banking institutions on the one hand, and for customers on the other hand. At the end of the opening ceremony, His Highness honored the keynote speakers, and also accepted the college's honor for him through the college's shield presented by the acting dean of the college.
